While summer camping is a popular pastime among RV owners, the summer heat can be difficult to contend with. Even with your AC running at full blast, it’s easy for an RV to quickly become hot and musty as temperatures rise. To help keep your RV cool, and get the most out of your summer vacation, be sure to read through our helpful tips below!

Insulate your RV

To keep cool air in and the heat out, take some time to try and insulate your RV. To start, we recommend purchasing a bit of sealant and checking your RV’s exterior—especially around doors and windows—for any cracks or gaps that need filling. If your exterior seems to be airtight, we recommend covering your windows with some heavy curtains or even a tint to ensure the sun isn’t heating up your rig’s interior.

Keep Air Moving

If you haven’t already purchased a fan for your upcoming summer RV trip, we encourage you to hurry over to the store before it’s too late. Even if your RV has a central cooling system, a fan is often a great tool to help keep cool air circulating and avoid rising temperatures in an RV. If your RV doesn’t have a central cooling system, we recommend purchasing at least two portable fans for your rig—one to place near a shaded window and bring in cool air, and another to place near the door and help blow hot air out.
